New Balance

New Balance was established in 1906 by William J. Riley. The main focus of New Balance at first was to come up with orthopedic products that specialize in providing arch supports. In 1934, William joined Arthur Hall to sell foot support to people like police officers who are on their feet everyday.

When the fifties came in, the demand for New Balance grew with most athletes even requesting for some custom tailored sneakers. By 1954, Arthur Hall sold the New Balance company to his daughter and her husband Paul Kidd. When the couple took control of the company, the sneaker products and the demand for it just boomed.

It was in 1961 when their first every high performance running shoe was released called the New Balance Trackster. It has a ripper sole for more traction and was made available in a variety of widths. It was in 1972 when the company was once again sold to another, but this time someone outside the family, Jim S. Davis. In 1976, the company was still a bit small but they were awarded first place in the Runner’s World Magazine Award.

At present, New Balance has been consistently expanding their company to become a comprehensive shoe empire which includes basketball, tennis and even hiking sneakers.
