NuBuX honored Bruce Lee’s 1972 movie Fists of Fury with these custom Air Force Ones created a few months back. In order to capture the power of Lee’s moves as well as the fierceness of his gaze, NuBuX used simple colors to avoid needless distractions. I found these photos of the Fists of Fury Air Force Ones at the NuBuX Customsnkr.com blog linked here.
The designer started by dividing these AF1s into black and maize panels. The heel and middle panels are painted maize while the front half is painted black. A black and white image of Bruce Lee emerges from the middle panel, fists punching outward toward the viewer. While his left hand looks like it is about to connect, Lee’s right hand is cocked and ready to go in case his opponent does not go down.
NuBuX completed these sneakers by matching the laces and the Nike logo on the midsole to the maize panels. I am struck by the way the image of Bruce Lee leaps off this sneaker due to the subtle approach taken by the designer. I am sure that fans of Bruce Lee’s sadly shortened catalog of work will appreciate the care used by NuBuX on the Fists of Fury Air Force Ones.
