The cartoons of Vaughn Bode delighted readers of National Lampoon and other magazines during the 1970s. His main protagonist was Cheech Wizard who appeared in National Lampoon between 1971 and 1975. Puma has unleashed the Basket model once again in commemoration of a slice of American culture.
I wrote about the Puma Basket celebrating the 1970s Seattle Super Sonics in a recent post. The brand is celebrating Vaughn Bode with a set of Baskets using the cartoonist’s vibrant colors and shapes. The pair shown above feature colorful shoe laces and the word “Bode” in red underneath the familiar Puma symbol.
I have passing familiarity with Bode’s work but I enjoy Puma’s return to the 1970s. The colors are sharp without being garish and Puma did not paste Cheech Wizard all over these Baskets. There is a fine balance struck between the fun contained within Bode’s work and the serious celebration of his overall catalog of drawings.

I like the stars !
I would die 4 a pair of the red ones!!
imagine those wid a cpl of fat laces…
