Shoe artist Mike Perry got started in the customizing game only five months ago but he has already produced a fantastic pair of sneakers. The custom Delta Forces highlighted in this post are dubbed the Watermelon due to the green/red colorway used by Perry. These Delta Forces are available from Perry’s website just in time for the early part of summer.

It would have been easy for Perry to cut the shoe in half with one part painted in green stripes while the other half is covered in light red paint. The designer decided to mix up these design elements in an artful manner in his homage to the watermelon. Mike Perry placed the red interior of the watermelon on the heel, center panel and toe box. The remaining spaces are painted with the familiar light and dark green stripes of the watermelon’s husk.

The end result of Perry’s work is a custom sneaker that looks effortless without sloppy mistakes and miscues. Every panel on these Delta Forces is carefully planned out though each element flows smoothly with quick glances and long gazes. The unspoiled Nike swoosh facilitates this fusion by stretching from red to green. I hope that Mike Perry gets to work on some cantaloupe, grape and apple shoes as the dog days of summer come around.
