Continuing with more Olympic-inspired shoes, Puma honors Tommie Smith with these gold Puma Clydes. Smith’s 200m dash record is on the tongue and metallic gold medals are embossed throughout the shoe.

Two sets of laces are included with “1968″ appearing on the tips. Smith won the gold medal in the 1968 Mexico City Olympics. On the podium, the newly crowned Smith (along with Bronze medalist John Carlos) raised his fist in the air, which set off a firestorm of controversy. The barefoot athletes’ black power salute was meant to represent black poverty. The two were booed by the crowd and the Olympic committee thought politics had no place in the Games. Smith and Carlos were stripped of their medals and banned from the Olympic village. This led to many protests in the U.S. and Smith and Carlos were never given back their medals.
With the rate Team USA is going, there is no doubt that the Olympics finals is imminent. And once the finals comes under way, Lebron will don the latest model of the Nike Zoom Lebron signature line, the Zoom Lebron VI. But the pair he will wear won’t be just any other Lebron VI, it will be the Lebron VI United We Rise edition, the same colorway that the now sold out Hyperdunks featured. Once Team USA wins gold, these shoes will be much coveted!

With the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games underway, what better way to celebrate the competition than to rock a new pair of kicks? Check out these Air Jordan Six Rings Olympic edition sneakers that are perfect for the United States sports fan.

The red, white and blue colorway makes these sneakers obviously Olympic related. However, with different shades of blue being utilized, the connection isn’t automatic when you first glance at the shoes. With multiple versions of the Air Jordans used as inspiration, this release will be anticipated by many shoeheads. Via Sneaker News. Select sizes of this colorway are available now at Osneaker with no official release date yet.

To celebrate the most anticipated event of the year, Nike will release a special pack for the players who are participating in Team USA for the Olympics, the United We Rise Pack – 2008 Beijing Olympics. The shoes that will be in the pack include the Nike Zoom Soldier 2, the Nike Air Force 25 Low, Converse Wade Team Mid and the Nike Hyperdunk. All of the shoes feature a white upper with blue and red accents, true to the colors of the United States.
Using Team USA’s navy, red and white colors, Nike has created another pack of Olympic based shoes. This pack includes three models – the Blazer, Rejuven8 and Delta Force.

These shoes are very simple and good for those looking to steer away from loud colors. I really like the use of glossy patent leather in the Delta Force. These shoes are expected to be relased this Friday, August 8th to celebrate the opening of the 2008 Summer Olympic Games in Beijing. Friday will be a great day for sneakerheads with dozens of different Olympic-inpired shoes being released.
